FAQ
Why should I have my cartridges refilled and remanufactured rather than
buy a new one?
Firstly, because refilling costs you half the price of a new cartridge, sometimes
even up to 70 % less. This means cheaper printing. Secondly, you do your bit to
save the environment. It takes hundreds of years for an empty cartridge to decompose
at landfill. Thirdly, it is safe: you get your money back if you are not happy
with the quality.
Doesn't refilling / remanufacturing compromise quality?
Not at all. At Print&Refill we use high quality inks and toners designed for
each individual cartridge. These inks have the same chemical and physical properties
as those used in equipment manufacturers' cartridges. We have selected the inks
and toners carefully from the best suppliers in the world. Furthermore, our refilling
and remanufacturing techniques and testing of the finished cartridges guarantee
quality output. And just to reassure you, remember, you get your money back if
you are not completely satisfied with the performance of your refilled cartridge.
The equipment manufacturers have their own recycling programmes. Why not
use them?
Correct. Some printer manufacturers collect empty cartridges and refill/remanufacture
them. That is why many times a new equipment manufacturer's cartridge is actually
a recycled one! The difference is that by using Print&Refill services it is
you who saves money - by only paying half the price of a new cartridge.
I have tried a DIY refilling kit for ink jet cartridges, but I wasn't happy
with the quality. How come the quality of a cartridge refilled at Print&Refill
is better?
It really can make you sweat trying out those DIY kits! Refilling at home can
be dirty, time consuming and one doesn't always get it right. The ink in some
DIY kits has to be suitable for many printer brands and models which means that
sometimes their properties are not the best possible for your cartridge. At Print&Refill
we use cartridge specific inks that combined with appropriate work techniques
guarantee quality printing.
Laser cartridges can be refilled at home as well. Why then should I bring
my empty laser cartridge to Print&Refill to be remanufactured?
We don’t just refill the laser cartridge with new toner, but remanufacture
it. At Print&Refill the whole cartridge is dismantled. It is serviced, and as
it contains parts that last only for that long any worn parts are changed. Then
the cartridge is refilled and finally tested to ensure quality output.
How many pages can I print with a refilled / remanufactured cartridge?
As many as with a new printer manufacturer’s cartridge. What comes to laser
cartridges, You can often print more pages from a remanufactured laser cartridge
than with a printer manufacturers’ new one.
Do you sell compatible cartridges?
Yes, we stock compatible cartridges too. We want to offer the customer a cheaper
alternative to OEM cartridges in cases we cannot remanufacture the cartridges
of the their printer model.
But at Print&Refill you also sell new cartridges, why?
Unfortunately an ink cartridge cannot be refilled forever, even if its life
cycle can be maximised by handling it correctly and refilling it as soon as it
shows signs of running out. That is why we also stock equipment manufacturers'
new cartridges and compatibles.
What is a so-called eco cartridge, or a green cartridge?
An eco cartridge is a recycled cartridge. An empty cartridge has been serviced
and refilled, just like we do. However, it is still more economical to have your
cartridge refilled or remanufactured at Print&Refill.
How many times can a cartridge be refilled?
Approximately five times. This depends largely on how you handle your cartridge.
A good care, regular service and refilling prolongs the life of both ink jet and
laser cartridges.
How should I handle an ink jet cartridge in order to maximise its life cycle?
Follow the printer manufacturer's user instructions.
- When ink shows signs of running out, bring the cartridge in to be refilled
as soon as possible.
- Don't let the ink dry up in the cartridge or print with an empty cartridge
as this can damage the printhead.
- If there was a protecting clip or tape in the cartridge when you bought it,
put it back. Don't use any other tapes.
- If you cannot bring the cartridge to be refilled right away, put it back in
its case, wrap it in a plastic bag or cling film and store away from direct heat.
Excessive heat can cause a leakage.
- Don't touch the printhead or any electrical parts of your cartridge, this
can damage it.
How does using a refilled cartridge affect the printer manufacturer's warranty?
There is no effect on warranty. Professionally refilled cartridges don't damage
your printer (just as the type of paper you use doesn't affect it either).
